Obviously not on the same track....I don't know how to embed videos on my page either...So if you know how to, LET ME KNOW
But this blog is to share with you some sweet tracks/cuts/joints/albums/records that have flown under the radar
First CJT.
- Rage Against The Machine - Without A Face. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lua-aTMySAQ
I don't really dig the solo on the "Live & Rare" Cd...But I definitely love the way Tom Morello has never played the solo the same way twice. ..And I love hearing the backstory to it "1500 bodies have been discovered on the border. We wrote this song in response. It's called Without a Face" I think a lot of people underrate the Evil Empire album because the eponymous debut was so damn sweet...
The bassline is slunky. (For those of you not familar with slunk. It's the combination of being sleepy and drunk or stoned and drunk. For more on the subject, Listen to "Night Of The Slunk" by Buckethead - Strangely enough, There are no lyrics.)
And Zach's flow is smooth. I've never compared him to J-Live or Black Thought...But Zack has flow in abundance.
CJT 2. - Rodrigo Y Gabriella - Stairway To Heaven. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNc5o9TU0t0
- I recently found out "Y" is spanish for "and"...But Y?(Too easy..I know, I apologise)
But it's ****ing sweet nonetheless. They're basically a duo of Lead and Rhythm flamenco guitar who play really fast rhythmic pieces. I first saw them on "Later...With Jools Holland" (Which contrary to the beliefs of some has nothing to do with porn).
So they covered Stairway To Heaven..one of those tracks that if unless done with epic levels of win isn't really supposed to BE covered. But it's pretty great.
It actually makes me smile. And I don't smile often.
CJT 3 - The Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Hey. - http://www.last.fm/music/Red+Hot+Chili+Peppers/_/Hey
Yeah It's not youtube...But for 1, there's no video. And for two, I'm lazy.
I first heard about this cut through a friend who said some guy covered it on Youtube. I saw the cover and I was blown away..It's one of the best John Frusciante examples of guitar work I've heard. And the solo is mindblowing..And the lyrics reminds me how good for a songwriter Anthony Kiedis is. ..I wasn't huge on Stadium Arcadium when I first heard it but this song transcends the concept of being underrated.
I think the thing that grabbed me was how out of the RHCP comfort zone it is...As much as Flea and Co can put a song with feeling on freeze like few others (Under The Bridge, I Could Have Lied etc)..This one is up there.
If you've already heard these tracks, hear them again...They're pretty sweet.
